ABOUT GIES

MISSION & GOALS

GIES’ mission is to support the development of a climate-smart economy that contributes to shared prosperity and thriving in communities around the world.

HISTORY

In 2020, during the pandemic, GIES’ founders were asked to support social entrepreneurs by connecting them to quality resources, training, and funding to help sustain their missions. Initially skeptical, they discovered a lack of integrated platforms for sharing best practices and resources, as existing efforts were siloed. Recognizing the need for transdisciplinary, multi-sectoral approaches in a complex, interconnected world, GIES was founded to bridge this gap and harness emerging technologies for greater impact

PHILOSOPHY

Trees in a forest are interconnected through mycelium, sharing resources to ensure the entire ecosystem thrives. Similarly, human society is deeply interconnected, and crises or scarcity affecting some will ultimately impact all. Today’s scientific advancements provide us with our version of mycelium—technology—which holds the potential to democratize access to resources. However, technology alone is not enough; realizing its potential requires human intention, collaboration, and collective action. GIES is built on the conviction that technology combined with the human spirit can enhance access to information, education, markets, and financing to empower entrepreneurs and communities worldwide, creating opportunities for future generations to flourish.
